Off the desk

The parts of the story that don't fit on a term sheet: a family of five, a rugby habit that outlasted the knees, and a move from London to the Colorado Front Range.

Extended family on a beach at sunset

Two decades in London, now at 5,400 feet

I moved to London in 2001 for a job at Lehman Brothers that was supposed to last two years. It lasted twenty-one. My wife and I raised three children there, I played more seasons of amateur rugby than a man in his forties has any business playing, and we spent every holiday we could taking the kids somewhere with a different alphabet.

In 2022 we moved to Boulder, Colorado, to build the US side of Jackson Square Partners and to give the kids a few years of mountains, lacrosse and open sky. Both sides of the family are within a flight, and the beach photos on this page are what happens when all of them turn up at once.
